RÉSUMÉ La trace est considerée ici une place constitutivement dialectique, suspendue entre son témoignage et l’incertitude d’une référence éloignée, en particulier par rapport à l’idée de continuité dans le signe artificiel de son créateur (Benjamin, Le narrateur), et la lecture sémio-linguistique qu’on a donné à ce problème. On considère donc la trace comme référence déictique au sujet de l’énonciation et à la «situation du discours» benvenistienne, pour retracer dans un nombre de ses noeuds fondamentaux le débat sur l’énonciation du film, avec une référence particulière à l’‘énonciation impersonnelle’ de Metz. L’accent sera donc consacré à l’inversion de la notion linguistique de deixis, selon la formule metzienne qui fait de la trace énonciative l’empreinte ‘réduite à paysage’. En cela, on décrit la limite épistémologique qui rompt le lien déictique entre la trace (texte) et son origine (empirique): d’un coté, la marque énonciative se replie en métadiscours (le film est présent en référence à lui-même, en même que corps); de l’autre, l’objet est retourné comme un endroit de décentralisation et d’absence à la leçon (post-) structuraliste. Malgré, ou plutôt à travers la stricte adhésion metzienne à ce cadre théorique, on souligne l’émergence, dans l’irréductibilité auto-référentielle que la qualité sensible du film offre et oppose à la pertinence linguistique, de ce que d’après les mots de Barthes, il nous semble légitime de définir un ‘sortie du texte’. SUMMARY The trace, a constitutively dialectical place suspended between its evidence and the uncertainty of a distant reference, is meant here in particular in relation to the idea of continuity, in the artifact of its creator’s sign (Benjamin, The Narrator), and to the semiological-linguistic interpretation that was given to this problem. The trace is therefore considered as deictic reference to the subject of enunciation and Benveniste’s ‘speech situation’, to retrace in some of its fundamental parts the debate on the enunciation of the film, with particular reference to Metz’s ‘impersonal enunciation’. Therefore, the focus will be on overturning the linguistic notion of deixis, according to Metz’s formula that reduces the enunciative track to mere ‘landscape trace’. Therein lies the epistemological boundary cutting the deictic link between the trace (text) and its (empirical) origin: on one side the enunciative mark results in turning down to meta-discourse (in which the film is present in reference to itself, also as a body); on the other side, the subject is represented as a place of decentralization and absence in the (post-) structuralist lesson. Despite, or rather through Metz’s strict adherence to this theoretical framework, in the self-referential irreducibility that the sensible quality of the film offers and opposes to the linguistic relevance, emerges what we consider legitimate to define, in the words of Barthes, an ‘exit from the text’.
